Denise Hello CARLI Open Access Review group, We have a short list of Open Access/Free E-collections for your review. The criteria in the spreadsheet mirror the criteria at https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/collections-management/OA_eBooks Within the Box Folder https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://uofi.app.box.com/folder/189617818116__;!!DZ3fjg!4_LqYogvk9eQpaLoN2yYTrVhc1nA1UlyWA7vyEZz8K7hbBDX08Am8PRPYSTnoCkZ0cUQAYaWAnMPb0bWGWJ9Orm5YYgFR_dlWKYZ$ is an Excel file named "New Alma Open Access or Free ecollections Round 4" with the roster of Open Access e-collections to review. We decided each time there are titles shared there would be a two-week review period. Please comment and place your initials in column L (or not) by April 12, 2024. Also, we seek your advice about a collection we have decreased confidence in. Andrea Imre brought to our attention the status of Hindawi publishing. They have retracted many articles and been credibly accused of poor scholarly publishing practices. Especially problematic are their "Special Issues" with guest editors picked for a theme/subject area and (apparently) have little to no peer review. Collection ID: 61325027120005816 MMS ID: 991153998337405816 Per Alma comparison job: 204 (38%) entirely overlap & 144 (27%) partly overlap with other NZ e-collections. ("Partly overlap" means some of the years of coverage are duplicated but not all in Hindawi by other NZ portfolios.) Thank you for your thoughts and reflections on the short e-collections list and on whether the NZ should delete Hindawi publishing's e-collection. Finally, Wiley has purchased Hindawi, and they plan to retire the Hindawi name. In the long run, this e-collection will disappear and be absorbed into Wiley Open Access e-collections. We have no way to predict when the Alma CZ will catch up with Wiley's purchase of Hindawi. Let us know any questions. Denise D. If there's no objection, I'll take that as a recommendation to delete the e-collection in light of the quality issues and the plans to merge it with Wiley Open Access e-collections.
