Subject: [Discovery_PVE_Comm] August 21st meeting follow-up

Hi all,

Thanks for a productive meeting yesterday! Minutes<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/docs.google.com/document/d/1gzPB-8as21babJGK_tlGLfTTbSVobndgQ0QQ89NBtLA/edit__;!!DZ3fjg!-yY3GQ9YPdWX4DE8QDZhGcpPCK7o4GeC2e0TTDgHsB1SgFXkAgksS0FEy7C2xcQlEBYCpAaMYTw0ffZp_K9cZKPkLdIzybkRMFE$> have been added to the Google Drive (thanks, Allan!). Jessica also recorded the meeting if anyone absent would like to watch.

We agreed on a couple action items for our next meeting, which I’ll outline below:

  1. Primo VE Analytics: The new PVE Analytics interface will likely become available to us by the end of the year. To prepare, we decided to (re)familiarize ourselves with basic functions in the current interface and pull some stats for comparison between our institutions so we can discuss them further and identify questions we and other I-Share libraries may have.
     * Please review Primo VE Analytics 101<https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/i-share/alma/PVE_analytics>. This is documentation created by the Committee during its Task Force era.
     * Please run the following out-of-the-box reports for calendar year 2023 and add your results to this spreadsheet<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RfDzJMbC8zLyfRe0MKuHNhQr-qr7euY9GE2mANtXK5g/edit?usp=drive_link__;!!DZ3fjg!-yY3GQ9YPdWX4DE8QDZhGcpPCK7o4GeC2e0TTDgHsB1SgFXkAgksS0FEy7C2xcQlEBYCpAaMYTw0ffZp_K9cZKPkLdIzFaTB_4s$>:

                                                              i. Action Usage Example

                                                             ii. Action Usage Document Example

                                                           iii. Facet Usage

                                                           iv. Popular Searches

  1. Feature Retrospective: During the meeting, we discussed that there are Primo VE features that many of us have missed/didn’t implement when they were released because they were too primitive/etc. Libraries may be more interested in learning more about them/implementing them now that we’re a few years post-Primo VE implementation.
     * Margaret offered to start a list of features that may be worth revisiting.
     * Please review old Primo VE Release Notes (2023<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/002Primo_VE/2023/010Primo_VE_2023_Release_Notes?mon=All__;!!DZ3fjg!-yY3GQ9YPdWX4DE8QDZhGcpPCK7o4GeC2e0TTDgHsB1SgFXkAgksS0FEy7C2xcQlEBYCpAaMYTw0ffZp_K9cZKPkLdIzMhhtSf4$>, 2022<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/002Primo_VE/2022/010Primo_VE_2022_Release_Notes?mon=All__;!!DZ3fjg!-yY3GQ9YPdWX4DE8QDZhGcpPCK7o4GeC2e0TTDgHsB1SgFXkAgksS0FEy7C2xcQlEBYCpAaMYTw0ffZp_K9cZKPkLdIzc3-SbBE$>) and make note of any features you’d like to be revisited or that warrant discussion.

I have a couple notes about the Analytics spreadsheet linked above, and am happy to make changes to it before others begin adding their results:

  * For each report, I added the year element, removed the month element, and adjusted the criteria to run the reports for the CY23 date range. I then exported the results as “Formatted – Excel” and copy pasted the results into the Google spreadsheet. I copy/pasted as-is, so the Actions/Facets aren’t in alphabetical order. My assumption is that your results will be ordered the same way since these are standard reports, but I might be wrong about that since the order makes no logical sense. My hope was to make it as easy to copy/paste your results in the spreadsheet, but I can reorder the results if that would be easier.
  * The one exception to the above is that for the “Action Usage Document Example,” I sorted the exported Excel file by Subgroup.
  * For “Popular Searches,” I input the Top 20 into the spreadsheet; this was an arbitrary number so we can change it if desired.
  * We had discussed comparing the results of the “Zero Result searches” report, but since the out-of-the-box design shows the results daily, I wasn’t sure what would be most useful to compare. I’ve left it out of the spreadsheet for now.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there’s anything I misrepresented.

Thanks,
Lindsey
