This session will discuss the new audio and visual resource types that CARLI will activate in Primo VE for all I-Share libraries. It will cover how these new resource type configurations work, the timeline for their deployment, and methods for finding and updating problematic bibliographic records in Alma to correct record display in Primo VE. This session will be recorded and posted for later viewing. Registration is required and will close on Dec. 9 at 5pm. Quick reminder to review/edit the Primo VE Research Assistant takeaways document by Wednesday, December 4th. Thanks, Lindsey From: Discovery_PVE_Comm On Behalf Of Skaggs, Lindsey via Discovery_PVE_Comm Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2024 11:16 AM To: Maroso, Amy via Discovery_PVE_Comm Subject: [Discovery_PVE_Comm] November meeting follow-up This message originated from outside of the Illinois State University email system. Learn why this is important Hi all, Thanks for another productive meeting yesterday! During the meeting, I promised to start a list of "Primo VE takeaways" that we can post, which is available here. Feel free to make any edits or additions you'd like. I kept the language noncommittal (perhaps an overuse of the word "may") but am happy to use stronger language if we feel it is appropriate. The goal is to have this ready by December 4th so please review as you have time. At our next meeting, we will want to develop more concrete plans for our AI Symposium session. I think we agreed that a session on an evaluative framework for AI tools would be a useful contribution, but we can continue discussing in December. Please come with your ideas and consider whether you would like to present. We will need to have our presenters and abstract finalized by mid-January. Allan confirmed he would be able to meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month for meetings next semester. If no one has any conflicts, we will move to that schedule in January. Our meeting dates would then be: January 22 February 26 March 26 April 16 (note that this is still the 3rd Wednesday due to a CARLI conflict) May 28 June 25 Please place holds in your calendars for now - we will confirm this change at our December meeting. Thanks for all your work and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Message-ID: Hi, all, Ex Libris has set the secret search parameter in the NZ Sandbox for us (again), and the records have all been reindexed, so this feature is ready for testing. Note that this work has only occurred in the NZ Sandbox, not in the IZ Sandboxes you may have tested in before. If you have some time to test searching in the production NZ Union View versus the sandbox NZ Union View with known/exact titles that users have had issues with, that would be most helpful. Feel free to jot down your search results and upload them to the Search Configuration folder with my other docs if you like. Here are the URLs to use for testing so you can compare the difference between having the configuration setting off (in production) or on (in sandbox): Production Primo VE Union View URL (OFF) - https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://i-share-network.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CARLI_NETWORK:IShare_UNION&lang=en__;!!DZ3fjg!6gnI5Kpg7ZPtXyW_tfPFHhhIzVrp1GNULsmJDMVCYkV8xMEBQk0FJMta8OIDd_grHedRMD3toKEtR11yCA092M8Boip-QhbYmR8$ Sandbox Primo VE Union View URL (ON) - https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://i-share-network-psb.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CARLI_NETWORK:IShare_UNION&lang=en__;!!DZ3fjg!6gnI5Kpg7ZPtXyW_tfPFHhhIzVrp1GNULsmJDMVCYkV8xMEBQk0FJMta8OIDd_grHedRMD3toKEtR11yCA092M8Boip-Y-MQU6A$ (Yes, the Sandbox is much slower and sometimes won?t retrieve results the first time you ask it. Don?t be discouraged, ask again!) (In case you are wondering? What is the Union View?) As mentioned in my original May message below, I created a document with the email thread on the Primo Customer Email List that led to this setting being revealed to everyone. If you want to read that, this document can still be found in our Google Drive here. Today, in both production and sandbox Union Views, I did a couple of test searches based on example titles in that conversation and have documented those, also in our Google Drive. In my whopping two examples, I did see improvements in retrieval for titles without ?the? as a leading article now that this setting has been configured in the NZ Sandbox. Let?s add this to our Dec. 18th meeting agenda as well. thanks, -Jessica Date: Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:19 AM To: Discovery Primo VE Committee Subject: [Discovery_PVE_Comm] Secret search parameter to improve title search results? Hi, everyone, While I don?t want to throw a wrench into Laura?s upcoming part of the June 11th webinar on Search Ranking, I?ve been catching up on my Alma/Primo customer list emails, and I found the recent thread (in Google Drive; read from the bottom up; the magenta highlighting is mine) to be quite interesting. Apparently, there is a previously secret customer parameter, discovery_customer_defined_exact_match_field, that might help with exact title search matching. I would like to get the Committee?s thoughts on this since it sounds like it may be another on setting that needs to be coordinated consortially, but our next meeting isn?t until June 5, less than a week before the webinar. Could we at least start to discuss via this topic via this committee email list in advance of our meeting? Are you all experiencing the same issues outlined in this thread with searching? Do you think this setting might help based on the descriptions? Should I file a Case to ask Ex Libris to see if they will enable this setting in our Sandbox so we could compare the differences in our 5 sandbox IZs and NZ Primo VEs with our production Primo VEs? We can perhaps also do some basic testing using other sites Primo VEs who indicate they have turned it on; for example, Lesli?s library is https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://thslc-houston.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01TEXASHEALTH_HOUSTON:TMC_INST&lang=en__;!!DZ3fjg!6gnI5Kpg7ZPtXyW_tfPFHhhIzVrp1GNULsmJDMVCYkV8xMEBQk0FJMta8OIDd_grHedRMD3toKEtR11yCA092M8Boip-KKVnL2k$ . thanks, -Jessica -- Jessica Gibson Assistant Director, System Services Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have started an agenda; please let me know if you would like any additions or changes. If you have time before Wednesday, please test the "secret" search parameter (details in Jessica's last email). It is enabled in the NZ sandbox. I will need to leave Wednesday's meeting at about 10:50 to attend a meeting elsewhere on campus that couldn't be rescheduled before the holiday. Would anyone be willing to call the meeting, should it continue past that time?
