What an excellent webinar, thank you all for your participation!  An EXTRA big thank you to Andrew and Colin for setting the stage and demonstrating the topics, to Lindsey for running the discussion portion so smoothly, and to Thom and Allan for engaging the chat. And I saw Nathan and Cassie and Margaret sharing insights and adding to discussions as well! ?

Hello,
I?ve been getting questions from the liaison librarians here at DePaul about how to handle the new state-provided collections that seem to be outweighing more relevant collections. EBSCOhost eBook Public Library Collection North America is the one that seems to be causing the most issues, with showing kids books up first. The issue is that we do want to make these accessible, ideally, but try to change the ranking. I have a few ideas about how to address this, but I wanted to know if this has come up for an issue for anyone else with these collections?

I haven't heard an increase in ranking-related complaints (but full disclosure specifically related to Public Library Collection - we have a school library as part of our institution, so returning children's books in the first few results was already the norm).

The Public Services Committee is following up to thank you again for your interest in participating in a collaborative AI symposium. The symposium will be held on Tuesday, April 15th (rather than on Friday, April 18th, which is Good Friday) from 9:30am - 3:00pm. Sessions will be 50 minutes with 10-minute breaks between. Please confirm your participation by December 9th. Abstracts and presenter bios should be submitted by Friday, January 17th.

Thanks for another productive meeting yesterday! During the meeting, I promised to start a list of "Primo VE takeaways" that we can post, which is available here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wnbmhrOIgI6CIsYUdwsdSuyt4G5hJvY5WdCOdd2OEpI/edit?tab=t.0__;!!DZ3fjg!_cNkZAUa78Q2ItqULFOiArQnY1PYzwv6O06r5vHfjIKdIhfuZgtMr7V8z_oKC7HhLbgIhuEu_0-_I5fTRfPAtwQRr0k2h4qk9bk$ >. Feel free to make any edits or additions you'd like. I kept the language noncommittal (perhaps an overuse of the word "may") but am happy to use stronger language if we feel it is appropriate. The goal is to have this ready by December 4th so please review as you have time.

At our next meeting, we will want to develop more concrete plans for our AI Symposium session. I think we agreed that a session on an evaluative framework for AI tools would be a useful contribution, but we can continue discussing in December. Please come with your ideas and consider whether you would like to present. We will need to have our presenters and abstract finalized by mid-January.

Allan confirmed he would be able to meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month for meetings next semester. If no one has any conflicts, we will move to that schedule in January. Our meeting dates would then be:

January 22
February 26
March 26
April 16 (note that this is still the 3rd Wednesday due to a CARLI conflict)
May 28
June 25

Please place holds in your calendars for now - we will confirm this change at our December meeting.
