Would we like to all attend the webinar, and then convene our Committee meeting in Zoom whenever the webinar concludes? -Jessica Dear Primo Users, We?re thrilled to share the exciting progress of the Primo NDE UI rollout! February marked a significant step forward as 10 early adopters began testing the latest NDE UI drop in their production environments. And just this week, nearly 100 registered customers gained exclusive access to a sneak peek trial environment, allowing them to explore the new experience firsthand. Their feedback, gathered through a set of dedicated surveys, playing a crucial role in shaping the ongoing development of Primo NDE UI. As we move into the next phase of the rollout, we want to share an important update: after careful consideration, we?ve chosen a Managed General Availability approach. This will allow us to provide dedicated support to the first customers transitioning to the NDE UI and planning to go live by March 2026. We will share a survey on March 19th, asking sites planning to go live within this period to register for access by April 24th . As part of this process, we are sharing the full functionality release plan and known issues list in advance to help you plan your accordingly, ensuring a smooth and well-supported adoption. To help you prepare, we invite you to join us on March 19 for a dedicated webinar: ? March 19 ? Primo NDE UI Rollout Explained: Learn About the Transition Steps and Timelines * Americas and EMEA, 3:00 PM GMT | Register * APAC, 6:00 AM GMT | Register In this session, we?ll walk you through the transition process, key milestones, and essential resources to help you plan effectively. You?ll also get the latest updates on new features and developments. We look forward to seeing you at the webinar and guiding you through the next steps of the transition. At ISU, we have dedup enabled but not FRBR. Our music librarian recently reached out to share that scores have been deduping in a way that obscures essential information about the format. One example is ?Serena?da c?. 3 = Serenade no. 3 = Serenade Nr. 3, H 218.? In Primo VE, MMS IDs 9921363367405845 and 9921363367305845 have deduplicated, displaying information for 9921363367405845 in the catalog for both holdings. Both records have the same 240 and 245 fields. MMS ID 9921363367405845 is a miniature ?study score,? indicated in the 300 field. MMS ID 9921363367305845 is a collection of sheet music for all seven parts. I created a ?Suppress Dedup/FRBR Rule? for all scores (criteria is simply ?Metadata:Type Equals Scores?) but ExL advised that this would have to be implemented in the NZ to take effect since these are not local records. I?m curious about your thoughts on the best way to handle this situation. If CARLI implemented this rule in the NZ, I?m sure it would impact records that should dedup, but I?m wondering if that would be a net negative. Would it be better to modify dedup keys or use another strategy? I have yet to file any case with CARLI?I figured I?d bring this to the group since we?ve started revisiting dedup/FRBR. Case Title: Suppress Dedup Rules Last Comment: Hello Lindsey, I investigated this question about the dedup suppression rules. I do believe your configuration and process are correct, but since these are NZ records the suppression rule will need to be created in the NZ Alma instead. After this, the "Prevent FRBR and/or Dedup in Discovery" job will need to be run on a set of Score records in the NZ. I tested this with MMS ID 994854736605845 to confirm it is no longer deduping in your institution's Primo VE after running the job at the NZ level. This will, of course, affect all CARLI institutions -- since these are NZ records there isn't a way to limit the dedup suppression to ISU alone. I hope this info is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to assist further! Best regards, Chris Dixon Technical Support Analyst Status: In Progress Priority: Medium Description: Hi there, I am trying to test suppressing dedup for scores. I created a new "Suppress Dedup/FRBR Rule" for Scores based on "Inventory: Type = Scores." The documentation is unclear so I'm unsure where the "type" is pulling from but I'm hoping this is targeting the records for which I'm intending to suppress dedup. Using the Dedup and FRBR Test Utility, I found three matching pairs I wanted to suppress dedup for: MMS IDs 994854736605845 and 993479426605845, 9921363367405845 and 9921363367305845, 9921273921505845 and 9921273921605845. Following the advice of an earlier case, I created a set with those six MMS IDs and ran the "Prevent FRBR and/or Dedup in Discovery" on that set. They did not dedup in production, and now if I use the Dedup and FRBR Test Utility, I get a message: "The record doesn't have enough metadata for keys calculation thus no group can be created for it." Can you assist with these three pairs? I do not want to recalculate all keys yet because I'm not sure what the impact will be. I would like to see if this rule successfully "breaks" apart these deduplicated records to assess the outcome. This is of special interest to Matt and Thom, but I wanted to send to the group list to give everyone the opportunity to test these final local fields for music in the Sandboxes. I?ve configured these MARC fields according to the Orbis Cascade Alliance?s documentation and set up display and facet in the NZ Sandbox and the UIC Sandbox again: local_field_55 ? MARC 351 ?Arrangement? local_field_85 ? MARC 382 ?Number of Music Performers? with $s,e,t (facet and search; no display) local_field_87 ? MARC 382 ?Instrumentation? with $a,b,e,n,3 (display) and $a,b,d,p (facet) local_field_88 ? MARC 382 ?Medium of Music Performance Statement? with $a,b,e,n (facet only) local_field_86 ? MARC 383 ?Numeric Designation of Musical Work?(display, facet, and search) local_field_84 ? MARC 384 ?Musical Key?(display, facet, and search) Example searches to see display and facets: NZ Sandbox Primo VE, Union View - https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://i-share-network-psb.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?query=any,contains,piano*20concerto&tab=DiscoveryNetworkNoVisionCite&search_scope=DiscoveryNetworkNoVisionCite&vid=01CARLI_NETWORK:IShare_UNION&offset=0__;JQ!!DZ3fjg!9ODZ4XkHURBZSTuPDQIswLyJsCo92nJ11wDUb6QFPc1qHOI-7qw1XlWIuHld4SQ8Af647_WFvx_YNnUzRhRCeE5DnL9SQXkB7tY$ UIC Sandbox Primo VE, CARLITEST View - https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://i-share-uic-psb.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?query=any,contains,brahms*20concerto&tab=NewDiscoveryNetwork&search_scope=NewDiscoveryNetwork&vid=01CARLI_UIC:CARLITEST&offset=0__;JQ!!DZ3fjg!9ODZ4XkHURBZSTuPDQIswLyJsCo92nJ11wDUb6QFPc1qHOI-7qw1XlWIuHld4SQ8Af647_WFvx_YNnUzRhRCeE5DnL9S7sqAaxM$ I reindexed 896,523 music records (with LDR 06 c|d|j) in the NZ Sandbox, which was necessary to fully apply these configurations because the local fields were created with the Normalization Method. I did not reindex any local-only records in local IZ Sandboxes; I thought 900K were enough records for testing! The above fields join our earlier batch of local fields : local_field_51 ? MARC 245$c ?Attribution? (display) local_field_52 ? MARC 260/264 $b ?Publisher Name? (display and search) local_field_53 ? MARC 306 $a ?Playing Time? (display) (Reconfigured and redistributed 3/31/2025*) local_field_54 ? MARC 344/355 ?Technical Specifications? (display) *I had to reconfigure and redistribute in Production and Sandbox local_field_53 for the 306 field. Previous rule was not handling the display of multiple $a?s in a single 306 field correctly (worked fine when there was just one), but I believe I have it working now! Note: The Primo VE Sandboxes can be slow and sometimes will not retrieve any results. Just keep searching and reloading the search results page; it will comply eventually! If anyone finds any issues with any of these fields, please reply to this email to the list with an example record. We have a considerable scores collection at Columbia, and FRBR groups do indeed group too generously and hide results. Looking at how these were grouped, K1+K3 (Author +Title) I'm seeing the same old problem of not being able to define FRBR rules using subfields, i.e. the keys are too broad. We could take a look at maybe implementing K1 + K2 (author + uniform title)? This is what I will be looking at next. I'll update if I think/find anything. Please take care when clicking links or opening attachments. Hi all, I have a case with Ex Libris re: ?Suppress Dedup/FRBR Rules? that could necessitate a change in the NZ and would appreciate input from the group.
