Dear Illinois SOS/ISL OER Creation Grant Awardees,

We hope your semesters have gotten off to a great start and that you are all busy working on your grants. We have a few announcements that might help you as you get started with your grants.

  1.  This is a friendly reminder that your first quarterly report to the State Library is due October 15, 2024. To help you as you prepare your report, Karen Egan from the State Library will join the October 2nd  OER Grants Office Hour<https://illinois.zoom.us/j/84245967645?pwd=VkVQeGRQQVIvdXA2dWg4Umx4UU5rQT09> from 2-3pm to answer any questions you might have.  This one session of the OER Grant Office Hours will be recorded.
  2.  We would like to remind you of the OER Creation Workshop series that we offer for you and all your team members. The second round of upcoming workshops can be found below and on the CARLI Events calendar<https://www.carli.illinois.edu/calendar>. Please register for the workshops in advance. If you are unable to attend any of the workshops or would like a refresher, you can find recordings and handouts from the various workshops on this page<https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/collections-management/SOS-ISL-OER>, which has been designed specifically for grant awardees.

H5P Interactive Content for Open Educational Resources
Join eLearning Specialist Emily Boles to learn about creating accessible interactive content pieces with H5P. Though H5P is available in many OER textbook platforms, the workshop will focus on using an openly available tool.

What is Accessibility and Why is it Important?
CARLI is pleased to offer a course on accessibility with Ann J. Fredricksen, the Coordinator of Accessible Media Service at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  Ann will discuss what accessibility is and why it is important for the creation of Open Educational Resources. This workshop is part of a series of workshops designed for the awardees of the Illinois Secretary of State/ Illinois State Library OER sub-grants and is open to all CARLI members.

Incorporating Accessibility into your OER Project
