Subject: Your help needed for the ED Open Textbooks Pilot Grant
Hello!
Many of you participated in our open Zoom meeting last week about the US Dept of Education's Open Textbooks Pilot Grant:
https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/09/15/2020-20379/applications-for-new-awards-fund-for-the-improvement-of-postsecondary-education-open-textbooks-pilot Many of you also expressed that we should focus on courses in the allied health degree programs and we hope that gathering that data will support that expected focus.
CARLI is moving forward with submitting an application. Many of you asked "what can we do to help?" Following is some information that we need quickly that would greatly help the application.
1. Please contact your bookstore representatives to ask for a list of high enrollment courses along with the textbook(s) assigned and textbook cost(s).
2. Note courses with high textbook costs ($75 or more each).
3. Please note if your organization is an MSI: https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/idues/eligibility.html#el-inst
Send your data to me: abcraig at uillinois.edu<mailto:abcraig at uillinois.edu> The data should look like a chart of high enrollment courses (note the number of students each semester/year) with textbook costs.
This data would be really helpful for CARLI to provide in its grant application, as it would show where potential mini-grants through CARLI could be awarded.
Thank you! Anne
