[OERCommittee] Board feedback on the "Illinois Course Materials Survey: Student Perspective"

Good morning OER Committee members,

The CARLI Board met with CARLI staff this morning to discuss the "Illinois Course Materials Survey: Student Perspective" survey and shared some helpful feedback. Most importantly, they have asked that we expand the dates of the survey to include Spring 2023, Summer 2023, and Fall 2023.
This would allow those institutions who need more time to gain campus approval to share a student survey the time it would take to be able to participate.
It would also still allow those institutions who can share the survey quickly to send the survey out to students this term.
They anticipated the need on some campuses to send reminders of the survey, and the expanded timeframe would allow reminders to be sent across different terms.
They also were alright with the possibility of the same students participating in different terms since their costs would differ in each term.
An advantage of this expanded date is we would potentially receive a more well-rounded response across the full 2023 year.

This change would require an additional amendment to be approved by our IRB for the modification to the informed consent and protocol form, as well as accompanying documentation.
For modifications to our survey instrument, we would need to use wording such as "current term" for questions and a dropdown to select the term at the start.

Another change, we plan to offer both the informal student message and a formal student message with language from the informed consent, since members had differing opinions about their campus needs.

While we had hoped to distribute the survey today, I think this is really helpful feedback. Are we all on board with expanding the dates of the survey? Any concerns?
