Basics of Historic Objects Preservation:
A workshop for small museums, historical societies, and archives
This free, hands-on, workshop on the basics of historic objects
preservation is designed for local history museum staff and interns,
board members, and volunteers. Topics covered will include: how to
inventory, catalog and document collections; basic tools to get you
started in caring for your collection; how to set up environmental
monitoring of temperature and relative humidity; pest management; basic
materials recommended for collections care; where to find materials; how
to prepare for an emergency; and what does a curator do.
Two workshop venues remain in the series. Each workshop runs from 10
a.m.
to 4 p.m.:

Workshop participants will receive reference books on collections care
and documentation, a Salvage and Response Wheel, a resource packet, and
a booklet with sample preservation materials appropriate for collections
care.
This free workshop is provided free to one paid or unpaid staff member
of institutions that completed a survey conducted by the Partnership for
Missouri Heritage in 2011. If your institution did not participate in
the survey, you can fill out a copy by contacting(J

The Academy of Certified Archivists has pre-approved this workshop for
five (5) Archival Recertification Credits in Section B.3.c.
