[spcollig] Registration Deadline Extended for IFSI Burn Simulation and Recovery Workshop

Registration has been extended until July 8th for the CARLI sponsored IFSI Burn Simulation and Recovery Workshop that will be held on July 16th in Champaign.

This workshop gives librarians and staff the opportunity to learn about recovery of library collections after a fire.  Attendees will learn about planning for a disaster and working with fire professionals.  The workshop will be held at the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI). A fire will be set and extinguished by IFSI staff.  Attendees will then triage the materials and learn what to do with materials that are burnt and/or water damaged.

There is no registration fee for this program.

10:15---11:15   Fire Prevention in Today's Modern Environment, Fire and Arson Investigation Basics; Speaker: Eddie Bain, Investigator/Public Information Officer with the Savoy Fire Department
11:15--12:15    Introduction to Disaster Planning
Speaker:  Jennifer Hain Teper, Head, Department of Conservation, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
12:15--1:15     Lunch (with overview of disaster planning resources, view the Cook County Administrative Building fire simulation)
1:15--4:00      Burn simulation and recovery exercise; Speaker: Jennifer Hain Teper
4:00--4:15      Q and A, wrap-up
