On behalf of the iPRES (International Conference on Digital Preservation) 2023 Program Committee, we are very pleased to announce that the Call for Contributions for iPRES 2023 (https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://ipres2023.us/call-for-contributions/__;!!DZ3fjg!6gU7of9ladpvy9PuqeG3gDTgcz8xr9_zZmEgvMJkkAW0_DGxQIFZUX7EjSOuZfmtG7zXtilQRVs8my_b8KUPTROLZuw$ ) is now open.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Chicago Collections Consortium will host iPRES 2023 from Tuesday, September 19, to Saturday, September 23, in Urbana-Champaign, IL, with a hybrid option also available. With an incredible diversity of experiences and knowledge to share, we are excited to facilitate connections between digital preservation researchers and practitioners from all over the world.

iPRES 2023 will be a hybrid conference. We invite original contributions that will develop new directions for preservation research, practice, and policy; discuss trends in the field that will influence future work; and explore new ways of understanding the changing nature of information. We welcome submissions from researchers and practitioners who work with digital objects in a variety of contexts. Our goal is to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue about the challenges and opportunities for preserving the world's digital content over time, while strengthening the capacity, resiliency, and equity of the digital preservation community. While we strongly encourage on-site participation for those presenting on the program, a limited number of remote presentation opportunities will be provided.

Call for Contributions

At this time, we welcome full papers and short papers, as well as proposals for workshops, tutorials, posters, and panel discussions. (Please note that a call for ad hoc contributions will be released on May 8th, 2023.) All submissions are welcomed, especially those which relate to the overall conference theme Digital Preservation in Disruptive Times. We reflect on our responsibility not only to foster preservation, but also to ensure that society can make use of the incredible amount of data, information, and records that we are stewarding-or that have not been, to date, incorporated into our libraries, archives, and museums. Taking this theme as a point of departure, iPRES 2023 encourages contributions that address any of the following topics:

  * Digital Accessibility, Inclusion, and Diversity
  *   Sustainability: Real and Imagined
  * We're All in this Together
  *   From Theory to Practice
  *   Immersive Information

We particularly welcome contributions from researchers and practitioners who are directly involved in digital preservation projects or who have a strong interest in the subject matter. We encourage submissions from those working at all levels within the field. This includes project leaders and those with initiatives to advance digital preservation as part of their work or professional responsibilities.

You can find details about the submission process and the conference topics now online at ipres2023.us. Please remember that this Call will close on Friday, March 10, and that there is no intention to extend the Call for Contributions beyond this date.
