(via Michael Courtney, Indiana University Bloomington) The ACRL Digital Scholarship Section Professional Development Committee is pleased to host ?What do we do differently? Perspectives on Digital Project Management in Libraries and Archives? on Friday, October 21, starting at 1:00 PM CDT. Orchestrating a complete digital project management lifecycle to preserve and make archival collections accessible online can often be a challenge. The process of engaging with distinctive collections depends greatly on context, in areas like resources, policies, copyright, and value of materials. Panelists will discuss how they strategize their work respectively through the life cycle in light of unexpected challenges to ensure successful outcomes. In most cases, they will refer to interdepartmental work where collaboration, coordination, and communication are key to successful outcomes. They will speak specifically about their practices, challenges, approaches, and workflows to handling projects, either self-funded or grant-funded, based on analogs and/or digital materials (for example, digitization, metadata, and remediation of collections) with the end goal to promote collections online and preserve them. This panel will explore a topic that is common to many digital librarians and archivists?digital project management. Each panelist has its story to tell the audience as each of them represents a relatively broad picture of the work that takes place in their respective library or archive across four academic institutions. Attendees will come away with strategies and approaches to managing digital projects where effective collaboration and communication are key components to the success of projects, in addition to a discussion on lessons learned from the presenters. Presenters include: Rebecca Bakker Digital Collections Librarian Florida International University Kristin Clark Manager of Digital Collections Texas Woman's University Samantha McNeilly Archives and Special Collections Librarian Auburn University at Montgomery Patrice-Andre ?Max?
