Anne, thank you for your message and for letting me know about this. I deeply regret that the committee did not feel that their voices were not represented in the document - I saw it as a way of starting a conversation about a vision and potential opportunity to move forward. It was by no means meant to be an end point, but a beginning. I fully anticipate that it will evolve quite a bit over time, and I agree that the OER Summit would be a great place to continue these conversations and make sure that everyone feels they have an opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns.

Again, I also apologize if we moved forward too quickly. There is always a delicate balance when dealing with the legislature and leveraging the windows of opportunity.

Thank you, and I look forward to working with everyone and hearing more of your thoughts.
Sarah

Subject: CARLI's OER Committee: feedback

Hello Sarah!

I shared the attached document with the CARLI OER Committee. They had several concerns, including how their voice/the many voices in this space will be included in a statewide vision. They reminded me of the upcoming OER Summit that is planned on April 7 (email attached) and the meeting's goal to articulate a statewide vision. I apologized for any missteps or feelings of exclusion on CARLI's or my part. Certainly, that is never my intention.

I reassured the committee members that any vision will doubtless evolve, and that our priority in pulling the document together was ensuring that lawmakers and their staffs had a document in hand last week-when bills could be introduced-that would answer basic questions. We all know that continued funding is critically important.

On behalf of the committee and CARLI, I thank you for your leadership and for championing OER in the University System Office.
